The First Grade Program, PAJAMA PARTY will be here before we know it! In this program, every child has a speaking role. As a group they sing several, adorable songs. We are working hard in class to prepare and practice what Firsties are learning in music class. Please help out with some additional practice at home. You can find their speaking roles on the link found here or pasted below. We are also sending home paper copies. On show day, students will perform for the entire school during the school day. Then in the evening, they perform on the big stage in the auditorium at St. Joe High School! There will be plenty of room to bring grandparents, cousins, and neighbors. The show is at 5pm. Please have your Firstie at the high school between 4:30 and 4:45.

Lavender C. Night is here and night is there, and night is all around. I feel its Presence everywhere and yet it makes no sound

Louis D. Bedtime is my Favorite time. I know it's strange to say. It’s because I get to put my PJs on to end the day.
Julia E. All of my pajamas are colorful and bright. And when it's time to go to bed, I party through the night.
Hank E. But there are things that must be done before you go to bed. You have to take a bath and wash from toe to head.
Matty E. And you have to brush your teeth. In and out, side to side, above and underneath.
Brielle F. Get your wiggles out and pick up all your clothes and toys. It’s okay to have some fun, but don’t make too much noise.
Adley F. So when my mother calls, I listen and obey. Because her marching orders must be followed right away!
Marching Orders
Fox J. It is so still, so still tonight. There is no sound at all. No tapping on the windowpane, no footsteps in the hall.
Ada L. No barking dog or screeching cat, no mouse beneath my bed. No rustle of a windy leaf, no raindrops overhead.
Blythe L. I lie beneath my covers with my pillow to my ear, and my breathing and my heartbeat are the only sounds I hear.

Isabella L. My parents think I’m sleeping but I’m positively not. For beneath my pile of covers I am doing quite a lot.
AJ M. I am reading poems and stories, I have my flashlight lit. I am playing with the pieces of my model rocket kit.
Max M. I was quiet as my shadow till the moment they were gone. Then I dove beneath my covers and I snapped my flashlight on.
Anna P. So my parents think I’m sleeping but that’s simply their mistake. I have got them fooled completely, I am really wide-awake.

Arty P. Ready set, now here I go. I dive into my bed. I snuggle in with a sheet and blankets pulled up to my head.
Maycee R. Just one more glass of water? Just one more book to read? Just one more hug is really all I need.
Lydia S. And when I’m through with reading and hugging I’m tucked in tight, but oh no there is something missing!
Avery E. You gotta have a doll, blanket, stuffy, or a teddy. Where’d it go? Oh, here it is! Okay, then now I’m ready (Teddy D. will find the bear!)

Matthew T. When I’m very nearly sleeping in the middle of the night, I hear the furtive creeping of a thing that likes to bite.
Belle V. You may be completely certain that I haven’t any fear. Though when it is on the curtain how I wish it were not here.
Teddy W. When I sense the creature perching on my pillow underneath, and suspect that it is searching for a spot to sink its teeth.
Noah W. I am sure I feel it flitting but an inch above my head. I am glad a lamp is sitting on the table by my bed.

Alijah B. There’s a spooky sort of shadow dancing weirdly on the wall. It’s a creature I’ve never seen before.
Arabella B. It’s creepy and It’s eerie and so positively tall that it stretches from the ceiling to the floor.
Magnolia B. Its mouth is full of needles and it has a giant eye, and it’s moving in a hungry sort of way.
Kameron S. It surely could destroy me if it only cared to try, so I hope it’s had enough to eat today.
Leo D. That shadow makes me nervous. I don't dare to close my eyes. I’m afraid I may be eaten head and all.
Dalton D. If I fall asleep tonight I’ll be taken by surprise by that shadow dancing on my bedroom wall.

Alice E. Now I lay me down to sleep this is a silent night. I am feeling oh so good and everything seems right.
Adrian S. But wait! What's that noise I hear that comes from down below? What is underneath my bed? I just don’t want to know.
Nicholas F. Could it be a monster or a creature from beneath? I’m sure that it has hairy hands and scary fangs for teeth.
Ish G. Do I dare to take a peek to see what waits for me? My-oh-my, what will I find? Whatever will I see?
Under My Bed
Nora H. There’s nothing in the closet or underneath the bed, all those crazy scary things were only in my head.
Kenny K. Now that I am settled I think I’ll count some sheep. My eyes are getting heavy- it’s time to go to sleep.
Jonathan L. Bedtime is the greatest time. It’s been a lot of fun. But don’t forget there’s one more thing that simply must be done.
Zara M. I promise that I won’t wake up. I’ll sleep so sound and long. If we can just softly sing a final bedtime song.
